TAKING ACTION TO HELP THE HOMELESS
January 1, 2017 @ 8:00 am - January 31, 2018 @ 5:00 pm
Rapidly Rehousing People Displaced by Mission Closure
Action Inc. has successfully housed most people displaced during the recent closure of the Butte Rescue Mission. Our Service Advocates have located housing and provided rent and deposit assistance to 4 families and 10 individuals. Additionally, our Advocates helped 9 individuals relocate to shelters in other communities.
Filling the Food Gap
Action Inc. organized a coalition of people to help address the food gap resulting from closure of the Butte Rescue Mission. Dedicated community members and agencies have created a plan to ensure homeless people have meals through April 10th, and are working with the coalition on a long-term solution. The Butte Emergency Food Bank, Knights of Columbus, CCCS, Inc. and the We Deliver Program have coordinated to ensure people will not go hungry.
Planning for Future Service
Action Inc. continues to work with the Southwest Montana Continuum of Care Coalition and local officials to develop a long-term solution to homelessness. The Coalition meets monthly on the first Friday of month at the Emma Park Neighborhood Center, 25 West Silver Street in Butte. The Coalition’s Planning Committee has been exploring options for addressing gaps in services.
